Illinois shipping starts at the location of the parcel
Set the sender country to United States and the state to Illinois. Enter the actual mailing city and ZIP code, whether the parcel is in Chicago or elsewhere in the state. The billing address or the place where you are currently staying may be different.
When an address is described as being in the wider Chicago area, verify the state rather than choosing Illinois automatically. The state guide is for goods collected at an Illinois address; the form should describe the real origin.
Sending from a campus or temporary address
If you are arranging collection before leaving student housing or another temporary residence, confirm who will hold the packed goods. A campus name alone is not enough: provide the street address, residence or building identifier, room or unit and the relevant contact.
- Ask whether reception or the mailroom accepts outgoing collection arrangements.
- Separate the place where you receive mail from the place where the parcel can actually be released.
- Give your preferred date and explain any departure deadline before an arrangement is agreed.
- If another person will hand over the box, confirm their agreement and share the necessary contact information through the booking process.
Prepare books, belongings and business parcels
Describe the contents precisely instead of relying only on a label such as personal effects or samples. Give the packed weight and outside dimensions for each box. Write lb/in or kg/cm next to the measurements.
For a mixed shipment, identify which items are in each package and mention any special contents before the service is chosen. Acceptance and shipment documents must be checked for the actual goods and destination. This guide does not establish an exemption or automatic acceptance for personal belongings.
Business origins outside the accounts office
If a company is arranging the shipment, confirm whether collection is from its office, shop, workshop or another facility. Provide that facility's actual city and ZIP code, business name, unit and release contact. Separate package lists are needed when goods start at several Illinois addresses.
Use USPS ZIP Code Lookup to check unfamiliar postal details. EPS must still confirm the shipping service for the address.
