Buying goods around Brixton’s market streets
Lambeth Council identifies Electric Avenue, Pope’s Road and Brixton Station Road in its Brixton market information. If a purchase is intended for overseas delivery, agree with the seller where the goods will be held and who will pack them. A market name or stall description alone is not enough to arrange collection. Supply the seller’s full holding address, business name, contact and any relevant access details for EPS to assess.
Separate the purchase from the shipping arrangement
Before requesting a quote, obtain a useful item description, quantity and value from the seller. Explain whether the goods are a purchase, a return or a personal gift; keep receipts and return references where relevant. Clothing, household purchases and handmade items can need very different packaging. Food, liquids and other sensitive contents require specific review, so a market purchase should never be assumed suitable for an international parcel service simply because it can be bought locally.
Collection from a Brixton home or shared address
For belongings held at a flat or house, use the complete address rather than the nearest shopping street. Include the flat number, entry arrangements and a person available to release the parcel. If an online seller uses a Brixton business address but stores stock somewhere else, give the actual stock location. Do not nominate a public pavement or an unattended stall as the handover point; confirm a practical, agreed location with the person holding the goods and EPS.
Combine goods only after the packing plan is clear
For purchases from more than one trader, decide whether they will be packed separately or brought to one holding address with the holders’ agreement. EPS needs the final number of parcels, the packed weight and the outer dimensions of each. A collection from several unrelated addresses is a different request from one shipment ready at a single address. For a neighbouring origin, use the Stockwell guide or Clapham guide and supply the exact postcode.

Shipping questions
Can EPS collect an unpacked item from a Brixton trader?
Describe the item and ask about the required preparation before booking. Do not assume packing is included. The seller and sender should agree who will provide suitable outer packaging, secure the contents and supply the final measurements.
Does buying food locally mean it can be sent abroad?
No. Describe every product, its ingredients where relevant, packaging and destination so acceptance can be checked. Avoid buying or dispatching perishable or restricted goods on the assumption that a parcel quote guarantees their acceptance.
